Here’s a few great articles we’ve read recently on the topic of productivity:
9 UNDERUTILIZED FEATURES OF YOUR ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEM THAT COULD MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER
Access control systems can eliminate security risks associated with traditional key and lock systems. With access control systems, you can regulate exactly who can enter your facility, at what time they can enter, and through which point they can enter. Also, you save money by not having to replace keys and locks when a key is lost or stolen.
THE VALUE OF A PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT
You may have heard of the expression, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” (or the Canadian equivalent, “a milligram of prevention is worth a kilogram of cure.”) It’s much easier to do something to prevent a problem than to deal with it after it has happened. This applies to security systems as well and that’s the premise of having a maintenance agreement.
OUR SECURITY CREDENTIALS #HUMBLEBRAG
Humblebrag – an ostensibly modest or self-deprecating statement whose actual purpose is to draw attention to something of which one is proud.

Before You Upgrade to Windows 10
You may have heard that Microsoft is offering upgrades to Windows 10, and you might be thinking of upgrading your operating system. Call us before you do to make sure your current security system is compatible with Windows 10.
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM VS. FIRE ALARM MONITORING
We’ve had several of our customers recently ask us, “What is the difference between a fire alarm system and fire alarm monitoring?” Here’s the answer. A Fire Alarm System alerts everyone in the building that a fire has been detected and to evacuate the building. This usually involves local audible devices that go off when a fire is detected. The Fire Alarm System does NOT notify the fire department that there is a fire in the building. Someone in the building must call 9-1-1 or else the fire department will not be dispatched.
WHICH CITIES REQUIRE ULC FIRE ALARM MONITORING?
ULC is a global independent safety company with over a century of experience. ULC has created the highest safety standards for fire alarm monitoring in Canada, approved by the Standards Council of Canada. These standards are published as CAN/ULC-S561-13 – Installation and Services for Fire Signal Receiving Centres and Systems. The most recent version (second edition) is a 58-page document that was published on March 2013.
CAN YOUR BUILDING’S ACCESS CARD GET CLONED?
Many Access Control Systems still use proximity cards. In recent years, security researchers have shown how simple it is to read and clone these cards.
OUR 10 FAVOURITE SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Security can be a pretty serious industry to be in, so we thought we’d take a break from our regular topics of video surveillance, ULC, and access control to write about something lighter. Summer is right around the corner (it officially starts on June 21), although it’s felt like summer here in Vancouver for the past month.
So we thought we’d share our favourite things to do during the summer, both here in Greater Vancouver and out of town. Hopefully you’ll discover something interesting from our list, and maybe even find a new favourite summer activity of your own!
3 BENEFITS OF MANAGED ACCESS CONTROL
In the United States, there has been a trend in the last few years for businesses to move from using a locally hosted system to using managed access control. Why? Here are 3 benefits of managed access control:
